I had half my thyroid removed! I'm sharing my personal hemithyroidectomy experience, from finding out my surgery date to recovering at home after thyroid and nodule removal. After discovering a thyroid nodule measuring almost 4cm, I underwent a hemithyroidectomy (partial thyroidectomy) on 7 October 2026. I wanted to document my experience for anyone preparing for thyroid surgery, researching hemithyroidectomy recovery, or simply wondering what it's really like to have half your thyroid removed. Before my operation, I spent so much time searching for other people's experiences to help me understand what to expect. I'm hoping sharing my own journey might help someone else feel a little more prepared. Everyone's recovery is different, and this is simply my personal experience, not medical advice.
