Annevoie Castle - Les Jardins d’Annevoie 🇧🇪 Belgium Located in Annevoie-Rouillon, near Namur in Wallonia, Annevoie Castle and its famous water gardens are among Belgium's most remarkable historic estates. The gardens were created beginning around 1758 by Charles-Alexis de Montpellier and are renowned for their ingenious hydraulic system: the fountains, cascades, and water features operate entirely through natural gravity, without pumps or machinery. What makes Annevoie special? The gardens blend three major European landscape traditions: French, Italian, and English styles in a single estate. More than 250 years later, the original water engineering still powers many of the fountains and cascades. The estate includes notable features such as the French Cascade, Neptune's Cave, ornamental ponds, canals, and tree-lined avenues. The site is recognized as an important historic monument and was formerly designated Exceptional Heritage of Wallonia. Visitor information (2026) Open daily from late March through 11 November. Typical visit duration: about 1.5 hours. Located at Rue des Jardins 37A, 5537 Annevoie-Rouillon, Belgium. The gardens are often described as the only water gardens of their kind in Belgium, making them one of the country's finest destinations for lovers of castles, landscape design, and historic engineering. If you'd like, I can also suggest a half-day itinerary combining Annevoie, Dinant, and the Meuse Valley, one of the most beautiful regions in Belgium. 🇧🇪
