Essential Biodiversity Variables (EBVs) are a standardized set of measurements designed to capture the state and dynamics of biodiversity across spatial and temporal scales. Developed by GEO BON, EBVs serve as an intermediate layer between primary biodiversity data and policy-relevant indicators, enabling the effective monitoring of biodiversity change. EBVs are categorized into 6 major classes: genetic composition, species populations, species traits, community composition, ecosystem function, and ecosystem structure. Their development relies on integrating in situ observations, remote sensing data, and modeling approaches to ensure global consistency and comparability, providing scientifically robust data for conservation planning and policy evaluation. This webinar, co-organised by MoSTFun consortium and GEO BON, provides an introduction to EBVs, a key framework for tracking biodiversity changes at multiple scales. Speakers: Katie Millette, Néstor Fernández, Simon Ferrier, Melodie A. McGeoch, Alice Hughes Date of live webinar: 9 April 2025 Leave your comment(s) below!
