The Geotechnical Society of Edmonton (GSE) 2021 Virtual Wine & Cheese Event

The Geotechnical Society of Edmonton (GSE) hosted its 2021 Virtual Wine and Cheese Event on October 25, 2021. This event featured three of our Centre's graduate students as speakers: Gabriella Wahl, Yiwen (Vicky) Zhang and Sohrab Sharifi! Gabriella Wahl is the winner of the 2021 N.R. Morgenstern Award (previously the GSE Graduate Student Award). Her talk is entitled, "Analysis of Surface Infiltration through Acid Generating Waste Rock at Faro Mine". Yiwen (Vicky) Zhang is the 2021 Canadian Geotechnical Conference Award Winner and presented her talk on "SPT-Based Empirical Method for Estimating Axial Capacities of Single-Helix Piles in Sand". Sorhab Sharifi is runner up to the 2021 Canadian Geotechnical Conference Award, and his talk is entitled, "Reduction of stochastic noise in instrumentation readings: a comparison of simple moving average and Savitzky-Golay filters".
