Olympic Legend Mark Schultz Breaks Silence on John du Pont’s Darkest Secrets – Foxcatcher Nightmare

Olympic gold medalist and MMA pioneer Mark Schultz returns for Part 2 of his most revealing interview yet. He finally opens up about subjects he’s long avoided — fixed fights, the dark realities of Foxcatcher, John du Pont’s mental decline and drug abuse, testicular amputation, and the shocking lows that followed his highest highs. Mark shares gripping stories about his battles with Rico Chiperelli, Fabio Santos, and Walt Bayless, the unforgettable Robin Williams airport encounter, stepping in on short notice for his UFC 9 debut against Gary Goodridge, and the chaotic Jungle Fight in the Amazon where a planned pro wrestling match turned into a real disaster. He also details his first meeting with John du Pont, life on the Foxcatcher farm, du Pont’s predatory behavior, cocaine-fueled psychosis, and the toxic environment that impacted so many careers. Raw, honest, and deeply personal — this is essential listening for any fan of MMA history. 0:00 start 0:42 MMA history podcast intro 1:14 Joey Venti’s guest introductions 1:31 interview start 3:36 WCW contract rumor 5:52 meeting Robin Williams 8:14 experience with Rico Chiapparelli 14:12 rolling with Fabio Santos 19:18 ADCC rule changes to favor BJJ 21:40 Walt Bayless only taking private lessons 23:12 Leg locks being banned in tournaments 24:47 Walt Bayless controversial instructionals 26:45 connecting with Dave Beneteau 30:26 taking Dave Beneteau’s spot at UFC 33:08 payout for UFC 9 33:49 UFC 9 rules meeting 37:38 training with Dave Beneteau 38:49 Mark Schultz vs Gary Goodridge 39:45 Ken Shamrock vs Dan Severn 41:29 receiving permission to fight from BYU 42:36 Ken Shamrock worked fight rumor 43:39 training with Paul Herrera and Tank Abbott 44:54 taking a fake pro wrestling match 52:50 having a meeting about the fixed fight 57:12 Mark Schultz vs Leopoldo Montenegro 1:00:13 Stephan Bonner vs Lyoto Machida 1:01:42 meeting John Du Pont 1:05:37 Review on John Du Pont’s book 1:10:59 John Du Pont losing both testicles 1:15:54 John Du Pont groin grabbing in training 1:19:10 dealing with a drunk John Du Pont 1:21:25 flying out a youth wrestling team 1:24:30 John Du Pont seeking fake wrestling match 1:26:48 John Du Pont’s opinion on sports 1:29:41 citizen athletes 1:31:23 John Du Pont being a coach for fame 1:33:04 John Du Pont bringing the worst out of people 1:35:34 attempting to coach swim team in Olympics 1:40:19 addiction to pain killers 1:41:50 coaching John Du Pont In a wrestling match 1:44:58 involvement in lives of triathlete sisters 1:45:50 Dan Shade leaving Fox catcher 1:46:42 deciding to leave the farm 1:49:26 calling Dave Schultz to expose John Du Pont 1:52:59 interview wrap up 1:59:10 outro/ closing thoughts Subscribe for more.
