This is Part 4 of my new playthrough of the Nintendo 64 Classic FPS game GoldenEye 007. The game is based on the 1995 movie of the same name starring Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. This playthrough is being done on the 1964 emulator with Mouse and Keyboard in addition to being upscaled to 1440p and using the HD HUD texture pack that is bundled with the emulator. To answer the question: "Why 007 Mode and not 00 Agent?" Simply put, everyone does 00 Agent and with Mouse and Keyboard, standard 00 Agent is too easy. So I felt it'd be more unique to play on 007 Mode with the Enemy Reaction Speed boosted up to 100% to make them as fast as Perfect Dark enemies on Perfect Agent.
Another reason I am doing this new playthrough is because my first playthroughs on my channel were of this game back in 2017 (Almost 7 years ago) and frankly the videos are terrible. They have awful gameplay, incorrect aspect ratio, lag out the ass, poor frame rate and missing instruments in the music. Because of this, I felt it was best to simply do another playthrough to have a proper high quality one. Lastly this playthrough is dedicated to the late Brett Jones who passed away recently, he was one of the developers of the game and also handled a majority of the game's art, as such this playthrough is in his memory.
This is one of my favorite levels in the game for a number of reasons. What makes Surface 1 special to me is it has an atmosphere like no other, from the big open snowy enviornment, to the early morning sky to the music, this place just feels like home. It's also probably the easiest to really run through quickly too so that's another plus. I also like that you get the Sniper Rifle here, wish other levels let you begin with it. Of course the other thing worth mentioning is that this level is kinda the dumping ground for unused stuff. I already mentioned the MotorBike in the Runway video, but also Ourumov's BMW intended for Streets is also on that same desk shrunk down. You also see Ourumov's hat as a prop which is interesting and those Jerry Cans that are seen nowhere else. GoldenEye if nothing else is a rather fascinating game due to all the unused stuff or oddities you find such as objects only appearing in 1 level and in a spot that's easily missed. Oh yeah..there's also those guard towers too, I completely forgot about those.
