BANADURGA

The making of Banadurga. Vanadurga/Banadurga also known as Kantakadhi Goshaani (କଣ୍ଟାକାଢି ଗୋଷାଣୀ) as she is known in Puri, is a rare form of Durga who stands out of the other Goshaanis due to her unusual pose. The Brihhannila Tantra describes her as residing in the Nilavana forests around Nilachala Hill. Once while chasing her pet peacock in the forest, she gets pricked by a thorn. Mahavishnu, being her brother bends down to pick the thorn while Lord Shiva watches. The dhyana also mentions her to be in tribhanga pose and wearing wild forest flowers.
