The One Thing Every Comfortable Home Has

Count how many different ways you can sit in your living room. Not how many seats, how many ways. For a lot of people the answer is one. This video is about what makes a living room comfortable, and it isn't the sofa you bought. No seat stays comfortable for more than about half an hour, on the best chair in the world, because of how a body is built. A comfortable home is one that gives your body somewhere to go next: upright, leaned back, feet up, curled sideways, flat out, on the floor. Seven things decide whether a seat holds you: your own two measurements, the finger test that tells you what a sofa is for, the back angle that makes a dining chair a staying chair, what's inside the cushion, what's against your skin, the difference between a chair that looks comfortable and one that is, and the seat almost nobody counts, the floor. Every fix in here is a cushion, a pad, or moving something you already own. Not a new sofa. How awake is your home?
