Milwaukee in the fall of 1957, in real color 8mm film. Not colorized, not AI. A railfan went out to film the city's last streetcars while there was still time. Milwaukee is a working city of about 700,000 that builds engines, tractors, motorcycles and machine tools, brews Schlitz, Pabst, Miller and Blatz, and keeps electing a Socialist mayor, Frank Zeidler. That October the Braves beat the Yankees in the World Series. On March 1, 1958, the last streetcar line made its final run.
Did someone in your family ride the streetcars in Milwaukee, or work in its factories and breweries? Tell us in the comments.
