“Just Can't Be a Dragon Here” Instrumental - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

“Just Can't Be a Dragon Here“ (Instrumental Version) from the episode “Father Knows Beast“ of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S08E24). (DOWNLOAD LINK BELOW). -Overall Comments- Spike certainly is receiving some big episodes this season! First the whole wings thing, and now he gets to meet his father. ...Or does he? The second half of the season continues to bring the songs, with "Father Knows Beast" providing us our second week of new songs in a row! "Just Can't Be a Dragon Here" is a wonderful jazzy musical number, sung by Spike's "father," Sludge. With Daniel Ingram having the opportunity to utilize The Nashville Scoring Orchestra from the movie's recording in the songs this season, he's certainly not wasted the opportunity, with most of the songs featuring prominent brass, and having a big-band, jazz feel. And this week's song is certainly know exception, filled to the bring with wonderful sounding muted trumpets, trombone and also plenty of saxophone. William Anderson's score doesn't slouch this episode either, with two montage scenes with their own score, plenty of more emotional cues, a new motif for Sludge, and even a short reprise of the song by Spike with Anderson's backing. A lot this week, so let’s dive in! -Track Specific Comments- The songs aren't letting up in this second half of the season! Coming right off last week's "A Kirin Tale," Daniel Ingram drops another musical number on us this week. "You Can't Be a Dragon Here" is a big-band musical jazz number, featuring prominent brass and saxophone throughout. Being able to utilize The Nashville Scoring Orchestra from the movie's recording for the songs this season continues to pay off in spades, with the instrumental of this number being particularly enjoyable to listen to. The song is primarily driven by muted trumpets and saxophone, with other brass backing. The full orchestra is there throughout, however, with a string section and other woodwinds providing some additional backing and counter melodies in various parts. Vocal wise, this song follows a similar nature to many of the recent songs from this second half of the season, with a more musical style of talking interspersed throughout, with exchanges between Sludge and Spike. Dave Pettitt does a great job singing in Sludge's low, raspy, and harsh voice. It keeps his sound, but isn't grating during the song. Overall, another great addition to the show's song catalogue, and officially puts us over the number of songs for last season. (6 songs last season, 7 this season. 8 if you count the Kirin Tale reprise separately.) (Watch in 1080p!) DOWNLOAD: MP3 (320 kbps): http://www.mediafire.com/file/6vjsh9w...
