Hello everyone, this is Politics with Char.
Today, I want to discuss something different.
Not just what President Trump says, but how his words may affect the American people emotionally.
We have heard many controversial statements from Trump over the years. Some people find his words alarming. Others believe he is simply speaking directly, exaggerating to make a point, or being misunderstood.
But I want to ask you something.
How do you feel when you hear these statements?
Do you feel fearful? Angry? Confused? Anxious?
Or have you reached the point where you simply shrug your shoulders and say, "Here we go again"?
As a social worker, I am interested in how repeated exposure to stressful or uncertain situations may affect people's emotional well-being.
There is a psychological concept called desensitization. Sometimes, when we are repeatedly exposed to something disturbing, our emotional reactions become less intense.
But does that mean we are no longer concerned? Or have we simply become accustomed to hearing it?
And here's another question.
When does a president's choice of words become more than a political controversy? When does it begin to affect public trust, people's sense of security, and how Americans relate to one another?
That's what I want to explore today.
