Neighbourhood Health: Shrewsbury Winter Illness Centre

The Shrewsbury Winter Illness Centre, delivered by Shrewsbury Primary Care Network (PCN), is entering its third year of operation. The service provides same-day appointments for patients with acute respiratory symptoms during winter, helping to manage seasonal demand across primary, urgent, and emergency care. The model has demonstrated positive impact on GP workload, patient flow, and A&E attendances, and forms a key component of Shrewsbury’s winter resilience plan.
