94 years. 3 million bikes. Every single one a single cylinder... until now.
Royal Enfield has done the unthinkable and dropped the most heritage-heavy name in their entire lineup, the Bullet, onto the 650 twin platform. Same engine family as the Interceptor, Continental GT and Super Meteor. No more single. No more "that's what a Bullet's always been."
In this review we get hands-on with the new Bullet 650 and have an honest (and pretty divided) conversation about whether this is a smart evolution of the badge, or a step too far. We cover the looks, the engine, the weight, the ride quality, pillion comfort, and whether this is still worthy of wearing the Bullet name after nine decades of unbroken single-cylinder production.
What we cover:
The history: unbroken production since 1932, the longest continuous production run of any motorcycle
Engine: 647.95cc parallel twin, 46.4hp, 52.3Nm torque, 6-speed gearbox
Chassis, Showa suspension, brakes and ABS
Real-world ride impressions, weight, seat height, pillion comfort
The big debate: does dropping the single cylinder break the Bullet identity?
Verdict: is this still a Bullet, or just a Super Meteor in a different jacket?
Let us know in the comments, does the single cylinder matter to you, or is this just the next honest chapter in the Bullet story?
