According to weather forecasts, the system is expected to move westward over the next 12 hours before gradually weakening into a depression. However, heavy rainfall associated with the system could increase inflows into the Mahanadi River, raising water levels and heightening flood concerns across parts of Odisha. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation as the Mahanadi basin may witness increased water discharge in the coming days.
