An NS Inspection Train Heads Up the Greenville, Four Freights Meet at Jefferson and P51 Returns

Since I volunteered to work an extra shift for a coworker on Saturday and Sunday was cloudy I didn't get to go out train watching this weekend, but since I'm "retired" and only work two days a week now I went out on a sunny Wednesday instead. Traffic was terrible as expected compared to the weekend, but Amtrak was an hour late so I had time to get there, just barely. I had to drop my gear and shoot it with my iPhone as it was passing. It's the second train in this video as there isn't enough lead in for the title. So the first train in this video is actually an NS inspection train that backed in over from Jefferson street before heading up the Greenville line. Next we see Amtrak 19 as it was passing. Next we see an NS crew working a stack train with all UP power up front. We don't see a lot of UP power east of Inman. Most of those trains terminate either at Whitaker yard in Austell or at Inman and we only get to see them if they pull all the way up to the wye. A nice EMD unit is third. Next we see a southbound NS combo freight with a single GE up front and an EMD as a rear DPU. We tail behind it for a bit. Down at Jefferson street we see three other Freights, two NS and one CSX approaching Howell wye. Quite an unusual occurrence. The lead NS freight stops at the signal while the other proceeds after a brief pause. The CSX freight also stops at the signal. The NS freight is an ethanol train. We pace along beside it and around the curve, dodging obstacles as we go. And finally we see NS P51 returning to Inman from Chamblee yard with loads of logs near the front. A single GE unit running long hood forward. Lots of empty 2 bay sand hoppers from the cement plants, one with SOUTHERN letters, and several empty gondolas from the recycling center.
