壬 Ren is Water. But when I think of Ren, I don't think of a quiet stream. I think of the ocean. Calm on the surface, almost still. And yet, beneath it, an immense body of water is constantly moving — currents traveling through depths we cannot see, carrying an almost unimaginable amount of energy. And then come the waves. They move slowly. Almost imperceptibly at first. But when something that massive begins to move, its strength becomes impossible to ignore. Water does not ask where it is going. It moves. That is what Ren feels like to me: an immense force that is difficult to contain, and perhaps even more difficult to direct. Where the Water Goes was born from that image — from the tension between the depth of what moves unseen and the enormous force that appears when all that water finally reaches the surface. Where does that much energy go? And what happens when there is no longer anything strong enough to hold it? Written by me. I don't hold them out of weakness— But to choose what stays below. Give me chaos I’ll find patterns Give me fragments I’ll make form Give me something no one understands And I’ll stay until I know ⸻ [Pre-Chorus] I was never meant for one dimension Never meant to choose one name There is fire in my wanting And a storm beneath the flame ⸻ [Chorus] I am the water that won’t stay contained I am the current beneath the rain You can build your walls around me You can give me another name But I know where the water goes I know where the water goes I don’t break — I become the tide I disappear and return alive I have crossed a thousand winters With the ocean still inside And I know where the water goes Even when I don’t know why ⸻ [Bridge] Don’t try to dam my currents So the room can breathe again Don’t ask the river for permission To remember where it came I can be the quiet morning Coffee cooling by the glass I can be the sudden thunder I can be the road I haven’t passed I can love you without losing me I can stay without becoming still I can carry what I choose to carry And leave behind what never will There is no version of me that was meant to disappear. ⸻ [Final Chorus] I am the water that won’t stay contained I am the blue beneath the grey I have learned that being gentle Doesn’t mean I have to stay And if the world should close around me I’ll become what I was made to be Not a wave asking for permission Not a storm begging to be seen I am the river. I am the sea. I am the distance between them. I am still becoming me. ⸻ [Outro — almost whispered] Let the mountains keep their silence. Let the stones remember rain. I was never lost beneath them. I was only finding my way.
