Fukuoka, Hakozaki A 56-Year-Old Bakery Run by an 85-Year-Old Grandmother — A Legendary Story
This time, we visited "Yaoki Pan," a long-established bakery quietly tucked away in a residential area of Hakozaki, Higashi Ward, Fukuoka City.
Founded in 1970, the shop originally operated at a different location nearby before moving to its current spot in 1995.
Second-generation owner Kazunori Shinozaki and his mother-in-law, Yuriko Iida (85), run the shop together as a team.
They prepare dough from evening through the next morning and handmake around 300 pieces of bread every day.
Working more than 18 hours a day, the two of them truly embody the spirit of authentic Showa-era craftsmanship.
While many videos tend to focus on the eclairs and cream puffs,
the owner's personal top recommendation — the shop's real "best-seller" — is actually the melon bread 🍈
This time, we bring you all of its charm.
