Young Mothers Program Day - Project Nido 2026

In late July of 2026, alongside our partners Nested LLC, we held a workshop for over 30 teen mothers in the Chimborazo region. With some patients being as young as 14, we held general and gynecological checkups for both the children and moms. Throughout the day, we gave out supplies of diapers and food, held an infant CPR demonstration, and brought in local nail technicians and hairstylists to give these young moms a short break with a relaxing makeover. Since 2021, our Madres program has been dedicated to supporting Kichwa-Puruha and mestizo young mothers in Ecuador’s Chimborazo province. Through our work, we’ve gained a deeper understanding of the complex systemic barriers that expose them to violence, partner abuse, and hinder their access to uninterrupted education and healthcare. These obstacles undermine the opportunities they need for healthy and empowered early motherhood and further community wellbeing. Our project addresses these challenges, providing tailored support to help them navigate the cycles of disadvantage and thrive.
