Some journeys are not really about reaching a destination. 17 years ago, I travelled to Shimla with my family. Back then, I was simply a part of that journey. In 2026, I returned to Shimla again — this time with my own family. The plan was originally to travel from Delhi to Kalka by train, followed by the iconic Kalka–Shimla toy train. But when the journey was cancelled, the story took a different turn. Instead of chasing places, checking off destinations, or trying to see everything Shimla has to offer, we decided to simply stay. A few days in the mountains. Family. Changing weather. Old memories. Slow mornings. Long walks. Coffee. And the feeling of being away from the pace of everyday life.
