Before California's recreational shops opened, Blue Dream was already a familiar name. This documentary follows the medical-cannabis world that helped it spread: Santa Cruz patients, Oaksterdam classrooms and Oakland counters, and the seasonal workers waiting for the autumn harvest. Through archive footage and original voices, we trace how a favourite became almost too familiar—and what people remember when they hear its name today.
Archive interviews and period news connect the WAMM collective, the DEA raid and the Humboldt County green rush to California’s first licensed adult-use sales in 2018. The people in these reports show what changed—and what a familiar name could mean in a changing market.
When and where did Blue Dream first mean something to you? Tell us in the comments.
