This special video traces the evolution of public service recruitment in India—from the 1855 Indian Civil Service (ICS) examination and the first Indian ICS officer, Satyendranath Tagore, to the establishment of the Public Service Commission in 1926 and its eventual constitutional status under Part XIV, Articles 315–323 of the Constitution. The journey also covers the Government of India Act, 1919, the first ICS examination held in India in 1922, the Lee Commission of 1924, and the establishment of the Public Service Commission in 1926. The video further explains the constitutional mandate and functions of UPSC, including recruitment through examinations and selection, advice to the Government on recruitment rules and promotions, induction into the All India Services, disciplinary matters, and the empanelment of senior IPS officers for leadership positions in State Police Forces. For UPSC aspirants, this is an important overview of the history, evolution, constitutional status and functions of UPSC, providing useful context for understanding India’s civil services and constitutional institutions. ************************************************************************* महत्त्वपूर्ण प्लेलिस्ट: 1.
