U.S. midterm elections: Democrats vow to rein in Trump as he shows off White House ballroom | N18G

Following a decisive political realignment in the 2026 U.S. Midterm Elections, Democratic leaders on Capitol Hill have pledged to execute aggressive oversight on executive war powers, defense funding, and Middle East military deployments after securing control of both the House and the Senate. In his first public appearance following the Republican midterm defeat, President Donald Trump toured the White House ballroom construction site, signing a final structural beam. Addressing media questions on the major shift in Congressional power, Trump minimized the election losses and noted his ongoing executive authority, reminding reporters of his ultimate legislative defense: "I have the power of the veto." With incoming Democratic committee chairs taking over subpoena power and budget authorizations in both chambers, Washington is heading into an intense period of divided government. Democratic leaders have emphasized that their top priorities include auditing defense spending under CENTCOM's FORTRESS deployment, investigating foreign policy decisions, and asserting Congressional authority under the War Powers Act. #WestWarUpdate #USMidterms2026 #Trump #Democrats #USSenate #USHouse #Congress #WhiteHouse #ForeignPolicy #BreakingNews USA | Donald Trump | South Korea | Strait Of Hurmoz | Houthi VS Saudi Arabia | US South Korea Trade | Trump Tariff Warning | Trade Deal Dispute | Auto Sector Impact | Global Trade Tensions | US Iran tensions | USS Abraham Lincoln | US aircraft carrier Gulf | West Asia crisis | Middle East escalation | Iran protests crackdown | Hezbollah Update News | World News | Latest News | Global News | International News | Trending News | Union Budget 2026 | Jammu | Jammu Kashmir Latest News | Breaking News | PM Modi | Farooq Abdullah | Asaduddin Owaisi | Indian Muslim | Congress | BJP | Rahul Gandhi | Iran India Relation | Snowfall In Jammu | Saudi Arabia | Mecca | Houthis | Yemen | Houthi Attacks | Red Sea | Iran | Iran War | West Asia | Yemen Conflict | Bab el Mandeb | Red Sea Shipping | Iran US Tensions | Strait Of Hormuz | Iran Air Defence | US Drone Shot Down | MQ-1 Drone | Iran US Conflict | US Iran War | Hormuz Crisis | Iran Military | Middle East Conflict | News Live | World News | Latest News | Global News | International News | News | Trending News Kashmir News18 Urdu is one of India’s leading news channel in the Urdu language.
