Hayman Falls Bikepacking Weekend, July 2026

This trip was an overnighter with a round trip mileage just under 100 miles. We rode from Hortonville, WI to Hayman Falls County Park just outside of Pella, WI. We had 6 riders for this trip. The Saturday weather was great and we moved right along until after lunch when the heat and humidity moved in. We were glad to be camping by a river, so we could cool off after the ride. The night cooled off and was great sleeping weather. Sunday started warm and only got hotter. The heat index was at or over triple digits for the afternoon. We made extra stops in the shade to cool off and visited a Kwik Trip to cool off in the beer cave. Overall the trip was great. There is no trip scheduled in August, but a great one for September. There are three more for before the end of the riding season. GEAR LIST: ‪@insta360‬ Go Ultra. Great combination and held everything secure including my Go Ultra the whole ride. ‪‪@Greengurugear‬ Cotton Mouth Snack/Water Feedbag (x2). Great for extra bottle and snack as designed. ‪‪@modl.infinity‬ Gear Straps (tie-dye-rainbow). Amazing straps for everything and I love the color. I can find them anywhere because they stand out. I used these to secure my feedbags and secure my tent to the back. I carried a couple extra just in case. I need to get different studs to make the kit even more versatile. ‪‪@vaude‬ Aqua Back Plus panniers (Salsa color). This was the first trip, and they worked great and stayed secure along the bumpy roads. Plenty of room. The outer pockets are great for quick access along the ride. ‪‪@ATEPAOutdoors‬ Great entry level gear that actually works. I used the 1-person ultralight tent, all-season insulated sleeping pad, and 3-in-1 down sleeping bag (44.6F - 10.4F). The tent is about 10" wider than a standard 1-person and gives me just the right amount of space with a little more head clearance too. I have used the sleeping bag and sleeping pad twice now in freezing temps and stayed warm both times. This trip the overnight temp was at about 55 degrees Fahrenheit.
