Join me for a walk round beautiful Canisbay Church Of Scotland It is believed that the mound Canisbay Church stands on has been a site of worship since the 6th century. The original Church building was Pre- Reformation (before 1560) and the present building is mainly 17th & 18th century architecture with the tower being the oldest part. The first Presbyterian minister of Canisbay was Andrew Ogston in 1620, who called his parishioners to worship by having bagpipes played round the parish on a Sunday morning! From 1620 until the present day there have only been 20 ministers as they all had long ministries at the church.
