A short glimpse of the Chadar trek that i did in January 2013.
Often termed as the "Wildest Trek in the world", the Chadar trek is a trek on the frozen Zanskar river under inhospitable conditions. Average temperature during the day is -15 to -25 while in the night it drops down between -30 to -40 degree celsius. The word "Chadar" comes from the blanket of ice that forms on top of the river during winters . At places where the ice is thin, the trekkers have to climb the nearby mountains and continue until they can descend to a spot where the ice is thick. Overall, the whole experience is just beyond belief !
The most difficult part was the hike to Lingshed village, which i couldn't film. So please don't make any judgements about the toughness of this trek from this video.
