Tyquian Terrel Bowman, the Savannah rapper known as Quando Rondo, was prosecuted twice over the same period: once in Chatham County, Georgia, and once in federal court in the Southern District of Georgia. This is the procedural record of what each court actually did. In the federal case (United States v. Grant and others, No. 4:23-cr-00096, S.D. Ga.), an indictment reported at 14 counts was unsealed in December 2023. Bowman pleaded guilty on August 13, 2024 to a lesser included offense of Count 1 - conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute a quantity of marijuana, under 21 U.S.C. 846, 841(a)(1) and 841(b)(1)(D). Prosecutors did not proceed on the portions of the original count alleging methamphetamine, cocaine and fentanyl. On December 11, 2024, Chief Judge R. Stan Baker imposed a sentence of 33 months in custody, three years of supervised release, and a $40,000 fine, with the sentence ordered to run concurrently with any sentence which may be imposed in the related state case in Chatham County, Georgia. In the state case, a Chatham County grand jury returned a 49-count indictment naming 19 defendants on June 14, 2023. Bowman personally faced four felony charges, including a violation of Georgia's Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act and two counts of conspiracy to violate the Georgia Controlled Substances Act. On February 1, 2024, Chatham County Superior Court Judge Tammy Stokes placed the case on the dead docket at the request of the District Attorney's Office. A dead docket is not a dismissal - it postpones a case indefinitely, and the court can reinstate it at its own discretion. As of the records located in this production, no disposition is shown for that case. Bowman reported for federal custody on January 10, 2025. Reporting in 2026 states that he received an approximately five-month reduction in his sentence and was transferred to community confinement in Atlanta on May 27, 2026, with a projected full release date listed as November 11, 2026. WHAT THIS EPISODE IS NOT: it is not a verdict on anyone's character, and it does not relitigate a resolved case in another jurisdiction. Charges filed are allegations unless and until a court accepts a plea or a jury returns a verdict; where this episode describes allegations - including the details recorded in the state's 2023 bond-revocation filing and the gang-membership allegations in pretrial filings - they are attributed to the filings that contain them. No finding of guilt is implied on any count that was not the subject of an accepted plea. SOURCES: the federal judgment (U.S. District Court, S.D. Ga., Doc. 292, filed December 16, 2024); U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Georgia and ATF press releases; contemporaneous reporting from WJCL, WSAV, WTOC and the Savannah Morning News; national reporting from the Associated Press and Rolling Stone.
