Oxford Street Goes Pedestrian 🇬🇧 / First Day Without Traffic / 4K London Walking Tour

A historic day in central London. On 26th October 2026, a major section of Oxford Street became completely traffic free for the first time, with cars, buses, taxis, bikes, scooters and pedicabs removed from the stretch between Orchard Street and Great Portland Street. Join me, as I capture Oxford Street on its very first day of pedestrianisation, giving a real-time look at one of London's most famous shopping streets as it begins a major new chapter. The weather could hardly have been more atmospheric for the occasion. Soft grey skies, light drizzle and that unmistakable late October London feel, giving the street a reflective character while people experienced the newly traffic-free space for the first time. For better of worse, Oxford Street looked noticeably different today. the walk captures the street as it actually appeared on day one, including the new absence of traffic, the changing bus arrangements, pedestrians beginning to spread into the space and the early stages of what will become a much larger transformation of the area. This video is also intended as a small snapshot in time. Oxford Street has changed enormously over the decades, and this was one of those rare days where the change was immediately visible.
