Elena Kats-Chernin: Piano Concerto No 3 – The Deep and Bitter Flood – LPO MOMENTS

Vladimir Jurowski conducts Alexandra Silocea in the European Premiere of Elena Kats-Chernin’s Third Piano Concerto. Inspired by J S Bach's first wife, Maria, and the effect of her sudden death, the Concerto is a powerful and multi-faceted portrayal of grief. Originally performed as part of our In the Stream of Life series of streamed concerts in autumn 2020. Elena Kats-Chernin is a Soviet-born Australian pianist and composer, best known for her ballet Wild Swans (which UK listeners may recognise from Lloyds Bank adverts!).
