I'm back at my favorite dump, and the very first bag I open has coins inside! Then a Nokia phone, Calvin Klein jeans, a silver chain and a roll of undeveloped film. Great weather, piles of trash everywhere, and a feeling that today is going to be a good day. The first find shows up almost right away: a women's bag in good condition. Inside I find a hair tie, a coin, then a whole little packet of coins, colored pencils, a souvenir, some tickets… and a push-button Nokia! A strange collection for a lady's bag, but I'm not complaining. Next is a professional Citizen calculator, some toys, and then my old trick: check under the lining. Sure enough, there's a silver chain. Or could it be white gold? Then come meditation balls with little bells that still chime, a fishing reel, a speaker, a second push-button phone, a tin soldier collectors look for, and Calvin Klein jeans in excellent condition, ready to sell. After that the real work starts: lifting layer after layer of trash, because that's where the valuable stuff hides. More coins turn up. A bag stuffed with audio cassettes, Nirvana among them, plus sunglasses. A fridge motor with copper inside. A suitcase with baking molds and a doll. VHS tapes and a roll of photo film nobody ever developed. What's on those shots? Then computer parts: a motherboard with copper and gold, a network card, RAM sticks.
