Gilda Lyons / A Manual for the use of Wings

Performance at the Hidden Track in Sheffield (Tuesday 2nd December 2025) This piece was composed by Gilda Lyons in 2017. It is an unaccompanied piece with no text. Lyons drew inspiration from her memories of paging through maps and instruction books as if they were invitations to other worlds. She also included specific directions such as “allow wings to unfold naturally,” “explore movement,” “begin to experience lift,” and “now, fly,” among other actions.
