My First Nerite Snail Died. What Went Wrong?

Not every aquarium journey goes according to plan. Unfortunately, my first attempt at adding livestock to my 20-gallon mountain stream-inspired aquarium didn't have the ending I was hoping for. In this video, I discuss the death of my zebra nerite snail, walk through what happened, and investigate some possible contributing factors. From observing its behavior and checking water parameters to looking into potential environmental issues, I want to understand what went wrong and what I can learn from the experience. Some of the things I investigate include: The snail's behavior leading up to its death My aquarium's water parameters and overall stability Ammonia and copper testing Potential environmental factors, including temperature What I might do differently before introducing my next inhabitants I haven't established a definitive cause of death, but I think there's value in documenting the process and sharing what I'm learning along the way. The goal is still the same: building a healthy, thriving, natural-looking aquarium inspired by the White Cloud Mountain region.
