Slow-Fox (W.Heymann), Syrena-Electro 1929 (Polish) NOTE: This song was performed on the stage of Morskie Oko revue theatre in Warsaw in 1929. It was originally a German hit sung by the popular Berlin cabaret actor Paul O’Montis under the title “Do You Know That Little Cottage On Lake Michigan?” (German title: Kennst du das kleine Haus am Michigansee?). In Poland it was published under two titles: “Mały domek nad rzeką” (A Little Cabin By The River – the instrumental version, presented here and recorded by the Henryk Gold Dance Orchestra) and the song “Tysiąc pięknych dziewcząt” (A Thousand Beautiful Girls) sung in the Morskie Oko revue and recorded by Tadeusz Faliszewski.    • Warsaw 1920s: Tadeusz Faliszewski - 1000 p...   The imperfect acoustic quality of this recording stems from the fact that it is one of the first Polish electrical recordings - made at the Syrena studio in 1929. Inexperienced sound engineers used the rules for positioning the musicians' sections in relation to the microphone in the same mode as in relation to the acoustic tube. Therefore, for example, the brass seems to be placed too close to the mike, creating a sort of vibrato at the beginning of the recording. In later releases these errors no longer occur.
