Firdous Shamim Naqvi resigned as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s additional secretary-general on October 22, 2026. He said the decision was not prompted by any grievance or disagreement. Naqvi also said he had not yet issued a show-cause notice to PTI senator Mishaal Yousafzai, after party chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan had directed him to do so over alleged discipline violations. Barrister Gohar rejects Firdous Shamim Naqvi’s resignation Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has declined to accept the resignation of the party’s Deputy Secretary General Firdous Shamim Naqvi, citing his long-standing association with the party and contributions to its political struggle. Speaking to the media, Barrister Gohar said Naqvi had submitted his resignation five days ago. However, he refused to accept it and returned the resignation to him. The PTI chairman said Naqvi had remained associated with the party for around 30 years and had rendered valuable services during his long political career within the organisation. Gohar emphasised Naqvi’s experience and longstanding commitment to PTI, highlighting his contributions to the party over several decades. He said he had decided against accepting the resignation, indicating that Naqvi’s services and years of association with the party were important considerations. The development comes as PTI continues its political activities amid ongoing challenges. However, Barrister Gohar did not disclose further details about the reasons behind Naqvi’s decision to resign.
