Acting on specific intelligence about a gang smuggling foreign gold from Bangladesh through Kolkata to Hyderabad, officials from Hyderabad and Vijayawada launched a joint operation. A Scorpio SUV was intercepted on the outskirts of Vijayawada, where foreign currency was recovered from a hidden compartment. During questioning, two occupants reportedly admitted to delivering gold on the outskirts of Vijayawada, and the seized currency was suspected to be proceeds from the sale of smuggled gold. Subsequently, three other alleged smugglers travelling to Hyderabad on a passenger bus were intercepted at a toll plaza. Three foreign gold biscuits weighing approximately 3.1 kg were recovered from them; the biscuits had been concealed in a bag tied around their waists. A total of five people were arrested and remanded to judicial custody. Further investigation is underway. For latest news updates follow us on WhatsApp: https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VaYN...
