Career options for Anesthesiologist typically fall within private practice anesthesia or Academics. In an academic setting, a large portion of your responsibility is to educate and train residents and/or medical students within the field of Anesthesia! Physicians typically take a pay cut (30-ish percent) when working in academincs, but it allows for the opportunity to easily be involved in research, as well as other administrative and leadership roles. As a private practice physician, you typically work within a group practice that covers anesthesia for a particular or several hospitals, surgery centers, etc. You may or may not work with residents, but you will likley work with CRNAs and/or AAs. You can further your training by completing a fellowship after residency!
