I Survived but Lost my Mother and Daughter Er. Kishan Adhikari is a civil engineer who completed his bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Himalaya College of Engineering. He has been working at the Trisuli 3B Hydropower Project for the past five years. During the devastating Rasuwa flood, he survived the disaster but suffered an unimaginable personal loss. He lost his beloved two-and-a-half-year-old daughter and his mother in the flood. His story is not only about survival amid a devastating natural disaster but also about the human cost of such tragedies. Through this conversation, we will discuss his experience during the flood, the challenges faced by people working in hydropower projects in disaster-prone areas, and the lessons Nepal must learn to strengthen disaster preparedness, emergency response, and the safety of infrastructure and human lives.
