Alauddin Khilji raided Devagiri in 1296 in order to gain wealth so that he can dethrone the Delhi emperor Jalaluddin Khilji. After Usurping the king Alauddin sent Malik Kafur to Deccan in 1307 after the revolt of Devagiri prince ShankarDev, son of Ramchandra Dev. The Khilji’s conquered most of the Deccan and got umpteen amount of wealth from there.
