Sugarloaf & Spaulding - Carrabasset Valley, Maine | New England 67 Four-Thousand Footers

On October 4th, 2024 I set out with Ash, Wilkie, and my Father-in-law Tony to continue our journey bagging the ‪@AppalachianMountainClub‬ New England 67 Four-Thousand Footers! We timed our trip just right with the Fall Foliage this year, and it was peaking in Maine's Carrabasset Valley at the exact time of our trip, and it's easy to see that in the video! We opted to hike Sugarloaf and Spaulding from the ski slopes of the Sugarloaf Ski Resort which was a short but very steep route up to open summit of Sugarloaf gaining about 2750' in just 2.2 miles. From there it was a hike down the spur trail to the Appalachian Trail south to the spur that would take us to Spaulding, and we retraced our route from here. The whole route was around 10 miles and over 4000' of elevation gain. We had a great day out hiking together, outstanding views (from Sugarloaf anyways), and it was a memorable outing for sure. This makes for 60/67 of the AMC New England 67 Four-Thousand Footers for Ash and I!
