Madlanga Commission | Inquiry adjourns for the week

Lawyers for Mpumalanga taxi boss, Oupa 'Bafana' Sindane have asked the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry to postpone his testimony until after 6 October, citing ill health and his pending High Court challenge. Sindane was subpoenaed to testify today about financial records, stokvel dealings, alleged payments and communications involving fellow taxi boss, Joe 'Ferrari' Sibanyoni, with whom he is also facing extortion and money laundering charges. Commission Chief Evidence leader, Adv. Matthew Chaskalson, is opposing the bid, proposing that he rather take the stand on 29 September. Sindane has also launched an urgent application in the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria, seeking to prevent the Commission from using information obtained from his cellphone.
