I built a drilling rig from farm scrap, a used Predator 212 engine, and some very questionable budget hydraulics—and it actually worked. The result: a flowing artesian well on the farm, supplying water for the garden, future livestock, and even fire protection. No more hauling water. In this video: Building a DIY drilling rig from farm scrap and budget hydraulics Drilling a borehole to 142' through clay and glacial till Developing and grouting the well Trenching power to the well house This is the basic build and most of the drilling process. Next step is upgrading the rig with more power and hydraulic flow to drill a second well for the house and shop—and eventually geothermal wells. If you're into well drilling, DIY rigs, homesteading, farm builds, hydraulics, and fabrication — there’s a lot more coming.
