A local woman and her boyfriend are facing new charges in connection with her toddler's death in Adams County.
Tien Hawkins, 25, and her boyfriend, 23-year-old Brian Moser, also known as Terry Smith III, were taken into custody after Moser made a 911 call on the morning of July 2.
Sheriff's deputies arrived at the Timber Ridge Apartment Complex in West Union to discover the deceased child and her two sisters, both of whom had injuries consistent with abuse, authorities said.
The toddler is believed to have died from apparent suffocation.
Moser was initially charged with involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment. Court documents show he is now facing a charge of murder in addition to those charges..
Hawkins, who was briefly released from jail, is charged with the following:
Murder
Involuntary manslaughter
Permitting child abuse
Child endangerment
Moser is scheduled for a court appearance at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 10.
Authorities confirmed the other children are now under the care of Child Protective Services, with their injuries deemed non-life-threatening.
