Five years later, they began creating Ryka, a 2,400 SQFT, three-bedroom weekend home named after their daughter. Designed by Aniket and his team at Studio Ipsa, the home brings together a minimal Japandi aesthetic, soft curves, earthy textures and views of the surrounding greenery. The family made choices around the way they wanted to spend their weekends: they left the ground floor living room without a TV, chose a backyard over a fourth bedroom, and placed a window in the kitchen where a backsplash would usually be. Some of the most meaningful details are easy to miss at first glance. The nameplate is made from Ryka’s handwriting. The tree Aniket, Shreya and Ryka chose together now reaches towards her bedroom balcony. And the terrace, surrounded by plants, has become a place for sundowners, celebrations and quiet time outdoors.
