MARK - " THE KINGDOM IS HERE "

THE KINGDOM IS HERE Gospel of Mark — Garage Punk / Heavy Psych Rock \(INTRO — IMMEDIATE IMPACT\) (A distorted guitar explodes into a relentless 4/4 beat. Hammond organ spirals wildly through the speakers. No buildup. No warning.) HEY! The sky splits open! The time has come! Dust on the road and the race has begun! A voice in the wilderness, a cry in the air— Get out of the way! THE KINGDOM IS HERE! \(VERSE 1 — TALK-SUNG, FRANTIC\) John in the river, wild-eyed and lean, Preaching repentance to a world gone mean. Camel-hair coat, got the fire in his throat, Baptizing the sinners while the old world floats. Jesus comes walking, the heavens tear, A voice from above says, "My Son is there!" Forty days in the desert, the tempter draws near, He comes out swinging—THE KINGDOM IS HERE! \(CHORUS — FULL-THROTTLE, SHOUTED\) THE KINGDOM IS HERE! (RIGHT NOW! RIGHT NOW!) THE KINGDOM IS HERE! (BREAK THROUGH! BREAK DOWN!) The blind will see and the dead will rise, Truth comes roaring through a thousand lies! IMMEDIATELY! — HEAR THAT SOUND! IMMEDIATELY! — SHAKE THE GROUND! No time to wait, no time for fear— THE KINGDOM! THE KINGDOM! THE KINGDOM IS HERE! \(VERSE 2 — CHOPPY GUITAR, SWIRLING ORGAN\) "Follow Me!" — Leave your nets behind! Four fishermen running, got a new state of mind. Demons start screaming when He walks in the room, The chains start breaking, the dead flowers bloom. A leper reaches through the walls of shame, One touch of mercy and he's clean again. A roof gets ripped open, a cripple walks free, The rulebook is burning—come and look and see! Pharisees whisper, "He's breaking the law!" He heals on the Sabbath, they recoil in awe. He calls the forgotten, the sinners, the poor— Then He kicks down the hinges and walks through the door! \(CHORUS — LOUDER, MORE UNHINGED\) THE KINGDOM IS HERE! \(VERSE 3 — HEAVY PSYCH GROOVE\) Storm on the water, the disciples cry, He tells the waves to shut up and die. A legion of demons, a graveyard of pain, One word from His mouth and the man's whole again. A little girl's sleeping, the mourners all weep, He takes her hand—"Little girl, arise from your sleep!" Five loaves, two fish, and a crowd to be fed, The desert's alive with the breaking of bread. But who is this man with the power to save? The one who walks on water, the Lord of the grave? Peter says, "Messiah!" — then stumbles in fear, For the crown that He's wearing is drawing us near. \(BRIDGE — HALF-TIME, MENACING ORGAN\) Take up your cross! (CARRY THE COST!) Save your own life and your soul will be lost! The first will be last, and the last will be first, The proud get humbled, the hungry get heard! They want a king with a sword and a throne, But He walks toward the darkness alone. The Son of Man came not to be served— He came to give His life for the lost and the hurt! (Drums accelerate. Guitar feedback rises like an alarm.) \(BREAKDOWN — WHISPER TO SCREAM\) Gethsemane... The garden... The kiss... The betrayal... The soldiers are coming! The night turns red! The shepherd is struck and the sheep all fled! The crown of thorns! The nails! The spear! The King of the Kingdom is hanging here! (Everything stops.) \(FINAL VERSE — EXPLOSIVE RE-ENTRY\) The stone rolled back and the tomb stands bare! The women arrive, but nobody's there! "Don't be afraid! He's been raised from the dead!" The words hit the world like a live wire overhead! Go tell the nations! Go carry the flame! The world won't ever be the same again! Through every dark valley, through every last tear, The grave couldn't hold Him—THE KINGDOM IS HERE! \(FINAL CHORUS — ALL IN, FRANTIC, COMMUNAL\) THE KINGDOM IS HERE! (RIGHT NOW! RIGHT NOW!) THE KINGDOM IS HERE! (BREAK THROUGH! BREAK DOWN!) The blind will see and the dead will rise, Love tears the veil from the world's disguise! IMMEDIATELY! — HEAR THAT SOUND! IMMEDIATELY! — SHAKE THE GROUND! No chains can hold us, no grave can keep— THE KINGDOM IS HERE AND IT'S RUNNING DEEP! THE KINGDOM IS HERE! THE KINGDOM IS HERE! NO WAITING! NO HIDING! THE KINGDOM IS HERE! \(OUTRO — FEEDBACK COLLAPSE\) (The Hammond organ wails over a final, pounding guitar riff. The drums stop abruptly. One last distorted chord rings into silence.) Right now... Right here... THE KINGDOM IS HERE!
