Following reports that the government is set to reconsider the relocation of Nsujjumporwe Buyala Landfill due to its proximity to an oil storage facility whose construction was launched this week, some residents have welcomed the idea, while others fear that businesses targeting landfill workers will collapse. The residents say the Buyala Landfill, which was commissioned after the collapse of Kiteezi Landfill in August 2024, has become a health hazard due to leachate that flows into natural springs where they fetch water.
