An autonomous solar fridge to reduce post-capture losses in Senegal's small-scale fisheries

In Senegal, artisanal fishers and fishmongers face enormous difficulties in preserving fish due to the lack of a cold chain. This leads to a rapid deterioration in the quality of fish products, limiting their shelf life and market value. In an attempt to remedy the situation, a solar-powered cold storage system, known as Cryosolar, has been installed on an experimental basis in Fass Boye since 2021 and in Mbour since 2022.
