We are Phil and Darrelle and we love travelling in our converted Citroen Relay campervan, Claude. Join us on our travels!
Welcome to our latest video. It could be called a video nasty but I'll try not to make it too horrible. We returned from our trip in Ireland on the 7th of July and it was time to take Claude off the road and do some fairly major reconstruction. And when I say major reconstruction that entails stripping the van and completely replacing all of the components within.
I do hope you enjoy the video. You will note that I have said it might not be entertaining. It certainly didn't entertain us very much; however what I would like to do is to give you a list of the suppliers that we used and where I've been able to I've included links.
Our primary supplier was camper interiors in Poynton. We bought the fridge, the Lagun table mounts, the Van der Moon boxes, the dc to dc charger, water tank, gas system and lots of incidentals from them. https://camperinteriors.co.uk/
We got our insulation from Dodomat. https://www.dodomat.com/ this included their Dodotherm Insulation Fleece, Deadn sound insulation and Deadn Duo
The carpet came from insert Mega Van Mats https://www.megavanmats.com/
Our kitchen from IKEA www.ikea.co.uk
The Tambour doors were supplied by Kiravans and came in kit form https://www.kiravans.co.uk
The fabric for our cushions came from fabric outlet in Newcastle under Lyme https://onepricefabric.co.uk/
Our cushions were supplied by GB Foam using their cut to specification service https://www.gbfoamdirect.co.uk
The insect netting that we used came from Purple Turtle https://www.purpleturtle.co.uk
Our airplus fan and nomadic roof vent came from Magnum Motorhomes https://magnummotorhomes.co.uk/
Other ancillary products came from Jackson's leisure https://www.jacksonsleisure.com
The ceiling tiles came from Portuguese Treasures https://portuguesetreasures.com
The curtains came from Van X https://van-x.co.uk
The lino came from JR Flooring https://jrflooringdirect.co.uk
The LED lighting system came from LED Technologies in Congleton https://www.ledtechnologies.co.uk/
Our electrical components came from 12 Volt Planet https://www.12voltplanet.co.uk
The clips that we we use to retain the IKEA drawers came from Nomadic Leisure https://nomadicleisure.co.uk
We bought our Plywood from Wickes, and a lot of other items from B&Q, Screwfix and Toolstation.
This was supplemented by many items purchased from Amazon!
Let us know in the comments if we've missed anything!
The van rebuild took from the 7th of July until approximately the 7th of October and is not necessarily something I would want to do again but I learnt many skills along the way,
My advice to anybody considering taking on such a task would be to watch many many YouTube videos and ask as many silly questions as you think are necessary. In my experience Facebook forums have been less than helpful. There's always one clever arse and it's usually male.
The components that we didn't replace in the build included our lavender diesel heater and our Ikea Skorva beams.
We do hope that you have found the video to be useful, informative and perhaps entertaining and now it's time to get back on the road which is of course why we have a camper van - so do subscribe to our videos and we'll see you in the next one as we further explore some of France Andorra and Spain
