Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to all of you watching 🎄🎁 On what was the coldest day of the year so far, I was the busiest I’ve been all year before noon. 3 dispatches within 2 hours, including a broken-down electric jetski, a grounded Cobalt, and broken-down Chaparral. The jetski was owned by the same couple who owns the all-electric hydrofoiling Candela boat that I’ve towed several times before (   • Stuck Again?! Towing My Favorite Electric ...  ), and while the couple is super nice and this boat is unique, it’s the puppies that greet me either on the boat or at the dock that make them my favorite customers! 😂For the grounded Chaparral, I got as close as I could to the boat before I too ran aground, and while I did feel bad making the captain walk out to grab my towline once I realized he was on the older side, there wasn’t a chance I was getting in that water with how cold it was 🥶 Luckily, he knew how to tie a bowline, and I was able to pull him back to deeper water without any issues, however, once we disconnected and he went to leave, he noticed his steering felt rather stiff. I pulled back up alongside him to help try and diagnose the issue, but after failing to find anything power steering related and him being able to still steer the boat, albeit with a bit more difficulty than he was used to, I continued on to the third job of the morning. But here's why they're really my favorites: THE PUPPIES. 🐕🐕 Every time I show up, I'm greeted by the most adorable fur missiles, completely oblivious to the boat drama. Honestly, I'd tow these people for free just for the puppy time. Don't tell my boss! 😂 Job #2 - Grounded Cobalt (The Captain Who Earned My Respect) Second call: grounded Cobalt. I'm making my careful approach and - YEP, I ran aground too. 🤦‍♂️ "I'm here to rescue you... from the same spot I'm now stuck in." I need to get him my towline but I'm not close enough. Usually the captain wades out to grab it, but it's FREEZING and he's older than I thought. I felt terrible, but there was ZERO chance I was getting in that water. My toes were already threatening to revolt. 🥶 Silver lining? This captain tied a perfect bowline, first try. Real boater right there. Respect earned, sir. I pulled him back to deeper water, but then his steering felt stiff. We troubleshot everything - power steering, hydraulics, cables. Couldn't find the issue but it was functional, just harder to turn. He decided to head in carefully. I gave him my number in case it got worse.
