What Do Near-Death Experience Researchers Say?

What happens to the mind and consciousness during a near-death experience (NDE)? Can current scientific models of the brain, mind, and consciousness fully explain what people report during near-death experiences? In this video, we explore these questions through the work, research, books, and commentaries of psychiatrists, physicians, and researchers who have studied near-death experiences. Rather than presenting my own conclusion, this video examines what the researchers themselves have reported and how they interpret the evidence surrounding NDEs, consciousness, cardiac arrest, death, the mind-body problem, out-of-body experiences, vivid experiences during clinical death, and the possibility of consciousness beyond the brain. At the end, we also look at Carl Jung's perspective on belief in an afterlife and his view on how such a belief may influence the way a person lives, even when the afterlife cannot be scientifically established. This video is not intended to prove or disprove the existence of the soul, an afterlife, or consciousness beyond the brain.
