🎵 WLTP SAID SIX HUNDRED – EVKX
Six hundred kilometers…
That's what the brochure said.
Six.
Hundred.
I believed you.
Charged it up to one hundred,
Destination set to go,
Brand-new E-V underneath me,
But the sky was filled with snow.
Twenty-one inch wheels are turning,
Cabin set to twenty-three,
Got four hundred miles of highway…
And six hundred promised me.
Pulled onto the motorway,
Set the cruise and settled down,
One-twenty on the speedo…
Then I watched the range count down.
Five-eighty…
Five-forty…
Five hundred disappeared…
I looked down at navigation,
And saw the thing I feared.
Outside temperature:
Minus seven degrees.
Speed:
One hundred twenty kilometers per hour.
Destination:
Four hundred seventeen kilometers.
Estimated arrival state of charge:
Minus four percent.
…excuse me?
W-L-T-P SAID SIX HUNDRED!
SIX HUNDRED!
WHERE DID ALL MY KILOMETERS GO?!
W-L-T-P SAID SIX HUNDRED!
I'm doing one-twenty in the snow!
Heating on!
Big wheels!
Winter air is cold!
You gave me six hundred kilometers…
THAT'S WHAT I WAS TOLD!
W-L-T-P SAID SIX HUNDRED!
Now explain this range to me!
I bought six hundred kilometers…
WHERE THE HELL COULD THEY BE?!
Called my friend to tell the story,
Said, “This range can't be right!”
He said, “How fast are you driving?”
I said—
“THAT'S NOT THE POINT TONIGHT!”
He said, “What's the temperature?”
“Minus seven, maybe eight.”
“What size wheels?”
“Twenty-one.”
He sighed and said—
“Okay…”
“Is the highway wet?”
“Yes.”
“Got the cabin nice and warm?”
“Yes.”
“Driving one-twenty?”
“Yes!”
“Well…
there's your answer.”
I don't like this conversation.
Air gets heavy when you're faster,
Cold can take efficiency away,
Winter tires and cabin heating
All have something they will say.
Every kilometer isn't equal,
Every journey isn't the test…
Maybe there's a little more to range
Than the number I liked best.
W-L-T-P SAID SIX HUNDRED!
SIX HUNDRED!
WHERE DID ALL MY KILOMETERS GO?!
W-L-T-P SAID SIX HUNDRED!
But I'm flying through the winter snow!
Heating on!
Big wheels!
Cold and speed combined!
Maybe that six-hundred number…
WASN'T MADE FOR THIS EXACT DRIVE!
Okay, E-V-K-X.
Let's settle this.
Outside temperature?
Minus seven.
Average speed?
One hundred twenty.
Wheel size?
Twenty-one inch.
Road conditions?
Winter.
Cabin temperature?
Twenty-three.
Calculating.
Estimated real-world range:
Four hundred twenty-one kilometers.
Four hundred…
twenty-one?
Correct.
And I'm getting about…
Four hundred twenty.
Correct.
…oh.
Would you like to calculate range
at ninety kilometers per hour?
Absolutely not.
So I finally read the details,
What that number really means,
Standardized conditions
Give us ways to compare machines.
Same procedure, same measurement,
Every car must face the test,
It doesn't promise every journey…
It gives comparison its best.
Summer roads and winter highways,
City traffic, Autobahn,
Speed and weather change consumption…
That's just physics carrying on.
Now I see the bigger picture,
And the truth is pretty clear:
The brochure didn't steal my range…
THE CONDITIONS DID IT HERE!
Compare the cars…
Plan the drive…
Know the conditions
Before you ride…
Speed and cold…
Wind and rain…
Change the energy
That you need again…
W-L-T-P isn't prophecy.
It doesn't know where I'm going.
It doesn't know it's snowing.
It doesn't know I've got twenty-one inch wheels…
Or that apparently
I refuse to drive slowly.
SIX HUNDRED!
STANDARD TEST!
SIX HUNDRED!
COMPARE THE CARS!
REAL RANGE!
KNOW THE DRIVE!
REAL RANGE!
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO!
W-L-T-P SAYS SIX HUNDRED!
SIX HUNDRED!
NOW I KNOW WHAT THAT NUMBER MEANS!
REAL RANGE IS COMPLICATED!
Speed and weather change the scene!
Cold outside!
Heating on!
Every journey has its load!
Use the number for comparison…
THEN PLAN FOR THE ACTUAL ROAD!
W-L-T-P SAYS SIX HUNDRED!
And now I'm finally in the know!
Compare the cars!
Plan the drive!
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO!
Reducing speed to ninety kilometers per hour
will significantly increase estimated range.
Ninety?
Correct.
And then I could make it without charging?
Most likely.
What about one hundred?
Range would improve.
One-ten?
Range would improve less.
One-twenty?
You already know the answer.
…
Find me a charger.
Fast charger added to route.
Perfect.
