This is a bhajan praising the devi at the Puthukkulangara temple near Kottayam in Kerala. My mother, Sarada Devi, was an ardent devotee of this temple and this song is dedicated to her on this Mother's Day. Lyrics, Music, and Voice by me, Hari Nair; Violin Pranav Praveen; Mridangam Naga Srinidhi Kuruvada. This bhajan is set to Kalyani ragam in Mishra Chappu thalam. Credits to the artists whose paintings are used in this video. Starting with the pallavi, devi is portrayed as Sarada with her eternal beauty. The anupallavi then describes her in her glittering jewelry in the evening rays of sun (this being a west-facing temple). Residing at Puthukkulangara (nava koopa theeram), the devotee also worships her as Maha Lakshmi and Saraswathi. The charanam describes devi as always pleasant and one who bestows boons to her devotees. In this temple the devi has two forms (dwaividhya swaroopini) with two deities side by side - one as Durga and the other as Bhadra, which is unique for devi temples. The devotee is praying to devi for protection. Lyrics: Sarade Sumanohari Devi - Nithyakalyani Pradosha Kirana prashobhitha Rathna haara vibhooshithe Navakoopa theera vasini Maha Lakshmi nee Saraswathiyim neeye Prasanne varade devi Dwaividhya swaroopini Durge Bhadre kaathidu Njangale amme Bhagavathi
